When I asked my son what he wanted to be for Halloween this year, his immediate response was to be Felix from Wreck it Ralph. I thought perfect, our family matches the characters almost perfectly! I love homemade costumes so much more than store bought, so I tried to be as creative as possible in putting our costumes together. Ngatoa's was pretty simple, we got his shirt and hat from Savers and I used felt to make the 'FF' logo on his cap. I made his and my husband's gold metals out of cardboard which I spray painted gold. As for my husband's costume, i had to put a little more thought into it. I searched high and low for brown overalls and was out of luck. No one, not even older Tongan men own overalls anymore. I considered buying a new pair but I decided it was a complete waste of money for one night. So I ended up buying brown pants from savers and I cut up a brown sheet to make the top half of the overalls, which I simply tucked into his pants. genius! at least in my books. ha! As for Leila's costume (who was dressed up as Venelope- and you can't really tell) I made her sweater out of a shower curtain (made out of fabric), her skirt out of the same brown sheet that I made David's bib, and her leggings were made out of an old sweater. As for my costume, I slapped on a blonde wig and declared myself Sergent Calhoun.
