1st of 20: Valentine Dress
So I made it a goal this year to sew 20 pieces of clothing for this little princess right here, who looks more like a scared peacock in the picture below. Hahaha! So in honor of Valentines I begin the journey. This is not my best work, nor is it my favorite dress. I really don't even like it that much but it's a start and I'm counting it as my first official piece of the new year.

Pretty in Pink
I was asked to sew for an entire line of bridesmaids. And for a Polynesian wedding that means big! Nine dresses total! While I've sewn for entire lines before, this was my first time sewing dresses without having a single fitting! All the girls lived an ocean away and all I had were their measurements. While this would have been a piece of cake for a REAL professional seamstress, I am use to and need my girls to be fitted not once but twice throughout the process. I need to adjust and cut as needed and I never like my clients to leave without being completely satisfied with how the dress looks on them. So naturally I was very hesitant but the bride was insistent, and so I surrendered. She picked out a simple yet attractive pattern. So here are the dresses and I am just crossing my fingers they fit!
I managed to get one picture!!!

Christmas Present 3 months Later
I definitely get the Best Daughter Award for this one. So I made my mom two house dresses for Christmas but neither one of them had sleeves because I ran out of material. I told my mom it was an easy add-on and that I do it as soon as I got more material, which I did 3 months later! Hey, at least I got it done.
and notice how she's only sporting one house dress. It's because I only put sleeves on one dress and I have yet to add sleeves to the other. It only takes about a half an hour to do so I should have it done in about 3 months! Didn't I say I should receive the Best Daughter Award? =)

Little Girl Dresses
A request was made at the shop for bigger sizes for little girls. So I fulfilled that request with a few more dresses. Lucky my cute (crazy) little nieces were visiting and they were privileged enough to be my little models (and my son was off the hook.) haha. Price range $20-$30.

Maid of Honor
I am so excited to see what the wedding line will look like with all the girls together in their different colors and styles of dress. Ui is going to be the maid of honor and she wanted an over-the-shoulder dress with ruching over the bodice. It was a simple request but for some reason I had a REALLY difficult time making it a reality. Maybe because I made the dress pretty much from scratch or because I was making it for a good friend and REALLY did not want to mess up. I had nightmares that I would ruin the dress and Ui would have to step down from her responsibilities as maid of honor because she didn't have a dress!!! Awe scary thought! But alas, a miracle occurred and I was able to make Ui's "dream" dress. haha. Well, pretty close =). I look forward to the wedding this weekend and hopefully stealing pictures from Ui, to replace this one!

Everybody loves Bob Marley!
This is Marley.

Kristi Suguturaga took our family pictures last year and did a FABULOUS job. As a thank you I made this dress for her daughter and ties for her sons. I decided on reggae colors because I knew (judging from Kristi's family pictures) that they are Bob Marley fans. I was so happy when they came to church sporting their new outfits and I was even more thrilled that the dress fit!

One pattern...two dresses.
So remember the dresses I made for Tia Pope's bridemaids?? well the pattern grew on me and I decided to make a dress for myself, using material I bought at the LA fabric district $1 a yard!! This dress required about 1 1/2 yards so it cost me about $1.50 and 3 hours to make!! Sounds like a bargain to me!!

Matching Dresses.
When I found out that Mary Latu was going to be having a combined birthday party for her three girls, I knew instantly that I wanted to make matching dresses. I decided to use left over material from the costumes I made for the BYU Luau in 2010.
